Transfer deadline day January 2019: The five biggest moves

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has targeted Everton’s Ademola Lookman for a £20million summer transfer.

21-year-old Lookman is up for sale having failed to force his way into Marco Silva’s plans at Goodison Park this season, starting just three Premier League games in a frustrating season.

Hasenhuttl coached Lookman during his six-month loan spell at RB Leipzig in 2018 and is now keen on a reunion with the England Under-21 international, hoping to use his pace and energy in his pressing football next season.

RB Leipzig hoped to sign Lookman permanently last summer, offering £22million for the youngster. But Everton wanted £28million and no deal was ever reached.

Leipzig, who will be managed by Julian Nagelsmann next season, are still interested in a permanent deal this summer while Bournemouth are also monitoring the situation.

Lookman has two years left on his Everton contract so would be cheaper this year than he would have been last summer.

Saints are also interested in move for Charlton Athletic midfielder Joe Aribo. The 22-year-old has been one of the stars of Lee Bowyer’s side this season but is out of contract this summer.

But Bundesliga side Frankfurt are still favourites for Aribo’s signature, while Celtic and Rangers are also interested.
