Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Emmanuel Adebayor has joined Crystal Palace and the reaction was... mixed, to say the least.
The Togolese striker has been without a club since September when and Tottenham Hotspur decided to terminate his contract at White Hart Lane.
Adebayor, now 31, is undoubtedly talented, as his record of 96 goals in 230 Premier League games proves - Didier Drogba (104) is the only African player to have scored more in the division.
But while his statistics and back catalogue looks great on paper, his attitude and work rate often tells a different story, as fans of Arsenal, Manchester City and Spurs will admit.
While Adebayor has had periods where he could claim to be among the best strikers in the Premier League, at other times he has been accused of being a greedy, lazy waste of space.
However, with Crystal Palace's current crop of strikers scoring just one league goal between them (that was a penalty) it was a risk worth taking by Alan Pardew.
Here is some of the best reaction to his signing:
Palace face Stoke City in the FA Cup on Saturday.
