Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Belgium's coach Marc Wilmots is understood to be keen on Eden Hazard leaving Chelsea to join Real Madrid.
The Telegraph have reported that the coach has fears that the player could suffer burnout at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho, and be worn out by the time the European Championship finals kick off next summer.
The report adds that Wimots believes, privately, that a move to Real would allow the forward more freedom and a lighter work schedule.
In addition, reports in France suggest that Hazard is seeking a move away from the Blues.
L’Equipe have reported that Hazard is not happy with life in London and in the Premier League, and the Belgian has already confided to family and friends, plus some international team-mates, that he wants to leave the club.
The report comes in the same week that Hazard seemed to 'like' a post on Instagram linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho dropped Hazard for the Blues 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday, and said afterwards it was a "tactical decision", and not because of the forward's poor form this season. He returned to the XI for the goalless draw at Dinamo Kiev in the Champions League last night.
"It was a tactical decision. We needed midfield players to be concerned with being solid," Mourinho said.
"I continue that way [leaving Hazard out] or he comes in our direction, and tries to play that way.
"I told players this is not the moment to think about personal situation, or moan, to be selfish.
"This is a moment for the team. I asked them to look at the picture in a different way. I have to try bring results back.
