Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Colombian, on loan from Monaco, has endured another nightmare season at Stamford Bridge, with just one goal and two starts all season; he's not appeared for the Blues since 31 October because of injury.
The 29-year-old's poor form carries on from his nightmare spell at Manchester United last season, where he managed just four goals in 29 matches in a year-long loan spell.
Jose Mourinho had been keen to dump Falcao in a bid to bring in further reinforcements up front in January, but according to the Daily Mail, the Blues may now have to keep Falcao for the remainder of his loan deal as Monaco don't want him back in the transfer window.
Chelsea paid about £4million to bring Falcao to the club in the summer and while the striker took a significant wage cut to play in west London, he is still paid around £135,000-a-week. Monaco are not keen on bringing him back to the Stade Louis II as they would have to pay his full wages, believed to be around £265,000-a-week.
Despite once being the most feared striker in Europe, Falcao is reported to garnered little interest from other clubs, with his huge wages proving to be a stumbling block.
Valencia are said to be one of the few options, with super agent Jorge Mendes enjoying a good relationship with the Spanish club
