Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Griezmann, 24, has been excellent in his first season at the Vicente Calderon, scoring 25 goals in all competitions for Diego Simeone's team.
But, according to the Daily Telegraph, with Atletico keen to renegotiate his deal, the France international wants to sound out a potential move to the Premier League champions before committing his future to the Rojiblanco.
Griezmann has a £43million buy-out clause in his contract.
Chelsea have apparently been interested on Griezmann for the last couple of years, with the forward able to play anywhere across the front three - 22 of his goals have come in La Liga, where he trails only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Jose Mourinho figures to be short a forward next season after seeing Andre Schurrle and Mohamed Salah in January, bringing in Juan Cuadrado, whilst Didier Drogba's future remains unclear.
The Blues have a great relationship with Atletico Madrid, Thibaut Courtois spent three years on loan at the club and the Blues bought Diego Costa and Filipe Luis from them last summer.
Luis could return to his former club and as well as Griezmann, Jose Mourinho has targeted midfielder Koke and centre-back Diego Godin as potential new arrivals.
