Chelsea have reportedly offered £30m for Shakhtar Donetsk forward Alex Teixeira.

The Ukrainian outfit have long insisted they want to keep the 26-year-old until the end of the season but the Blues hope their increased offer may change their minds.

The Daily Star report that an offer is ‘on the table’ as the Stamford Bridge hierarchy try to push through a deal before the transfer window closes on 1 February.

Teixeira has scored 26 goals in as many appearances for Shakhtar this season, forcing manager Mircea Lucescu to admit he may have to sell the former Vasco da Gama man.

“If there is an offer that will satisfy both player and the club I will fully support his move,” said Lucescu.

“We'll see in the summer; [for] now there's no point talking about it. This year, he needs to play so that he grows even more, despite the fact that Alex's level is very high even today. In this case he will be even more in demand.”
