Arsenal have reportedly informed Barcelona that they will not be taking them up on their buy-back option on former captain Cesc Fabregas this summer.
The Gunners inserted the clause in the deal when the playmaker was sold to Barca in 2011 for £35m, but, as reported by the BBC , they will not be exercising this option.
Fabregas has also been strongly linked with moves to Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City this summer after being deemed surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp.
Only today, his Barca and Spain team-mate Gerard Pique was caught on camera appearing to tell his national team manager that a €33m (£26.7m) transfer for Fabregas was "done", but did not disclose what team he has been sold to.
Pique was caught talking about the Fabregas "deal" at a promotional event with Spain coach Vicente del Bosque, when a private conversation between the pair was picked up by microphones on the table.
De Bosque said: "About Cesc..."
The Pique replied: "He already told me it’s done. He is leaving for 33million euros."
Del Bosque then said in jest: "The [Barcelona] president isn’t going to be happy.
"You're going to drive him mad, poor guy. You're going to upset him."
