Your support makes all the difference.Former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez has claimed Chelsea are interested in bringing him back to the Premier League but insists he will see out the rest of his career with Boca Juniors.
The 32-year-old, who also played for West Ham United and Manchester City during a tempestuous nine-year stay in England, worked with new Blues manager Antonio Conte at Juventus before returning to Buenos Aires.
Discussing the possibility of a return to Europe, Tevez told Corriere dello Sport: “I’m not coming back. I'm fine at Boca. Indeed my idea, my dream is to finish my career as a player in this wonderful club.
“Europe? Yes, it's true Napoli and Chelsea seek me, but I repeat what I said before. My desire is to stay at Boca until I retire.”
David Sullivan, the West Ham co-chairman, claimed earlier this month that the east London outfit had made overtures about brining Tevez back to the club, but the Argentine striker reportedly asked for wages in excess of £250,000-a-week.
Tevez remains popular among Hammers supporters after helping the club stave off relegation in 2007 under Alan Curbishley. Sullivan said: “We tried to get Tevez but he wanted £250,000 a week. In his last year at Juventus, he was great. But 250 grand a week?
“He'll probably stay where he is now, but he doesn't pay a lot of tax down there.”
Tevez does not turn 33 until 5 February next year, and his record in Argentina since his return last year stands at nine goals in 17 matches – the same as West Ham’s top goalscorers last season in Payet and Andy Carroll who achieved the feat in 30 and 27 appearances respectively.
