From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Brazilian, who left the San Siro last weekend after the last two years of his contract were cancelled by mutual consent, arrived in Turin today for a medical.
Juventus released a statement on their official website saying that Lucio would "undergo routine tests at the city's Clinica Fornaca di Sessant and Istituto di Medicina dello Sport medical centres".
The 34-year-old, part of the 2002 Brazilian World Cup winning side, had attracted interest from several other clubs.
Turkish side Fenerbache had been linked to the player but last Thursday declared that they had made no attempt to sign him.
Ambitious Spanish club Malaga were also rumoured to be keeping tabs on the centre-back but the Italian giants struck first.
The centre-back brings to Turin a wealth of experience and medals not only from his time at the San Siro but also in Germany.
While at Inter, Lucio won one Scudetto, two Coppa Italias, one Super Coppa, the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
Before his move to Milan, he developed his game and enjoyed great success in Germany, playing for Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich, winning three Bundesliga titles with the latter.
