The French forward announced his desire to leave the Wanda Metropolitano earlier this summer and now the Spanish champions have confirmed the move.
The 28-year-old has penned a five-year contract until 2024, with an €800 million buyout clause. Real Sociedad will pocket approximately €24m (£21.5m) due to the 20 percent sell-on clause in the initial deal to sell the player to Atletico.
"You were waiting for this," read the announcement from Barcelona.
"With his arrival at FC Barcelona, the Frenchman takes another step forward in his career with the goal of consolidating his place as one of the best players in the world."
Griezmann retweeted the Barcelona announcement on his official Twitter account.
The player scored 21 goals and assisted 10 more in all competitions for Diego Simeone’s side last year, with 133 goals in five years with the club from 257 appearances.
He will now join Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to form a trident to rival that of the latter two alongside Neymar, before the Brazilian’s switch to Paris Saint-Germain.
Neymar has been linked with a move back to Catalonia, despite the assumption Griezmann would join.
The 27-year-old failed to show to PSG's pre-season, leading to the club announcing disciplinary proceedings against the player had been opened.
