Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho has again been linked with a move to Arsenal after hinting that it would be a dream to play for the club.
The Portuguese defensive midfielder has long been mentioned as a possible transfer target for Arsene Wenger, with the Frenchman reportedly bidding more than £20million for him in each of the last two summers.
The 23-year-old has now claimed that he would love to move to Arsenal in the future and that he has "always" been a fan of the north London club.
"I am where I want to be right now, which is Sporting, but if I ever do leave then it's a sign that my work here was well done," he told portuguese newspaper A Bola. "I dream of winning the Primeira Liga here.
"I prefer not to say too much, but there is a club with which I’ve always been fond of: Arsenal. Because of Thierry Henry, a player with whom I have always enjoyed watching.
"Maybe this is why I look with so much affection to the Premier League."
