Mikel Arteta heaps praise on Arsenal captain Aubameyang after FA Cup final win

It’s all change at Arsenal this summer with the departure of Raul Sanllehi and the Gunners unifying behind popular managing director Vinai Venkatesham.

A culture change and clear shift in direction, empowering Mikel Arteta as more than a head coach bodes well as they bid to replicate their FA Cup success with a sustained push for a top four finish.

The key piece in all of this though is, of course, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – more of him later.

Ultimately though, Arteta has earned the right to be backed in the transfer market, something he emphasised here and throughout the closing weeks after the Premier League restart.

Here is the latest Gunners transfer news and rumours.

Aubameyang edges closer to bumper extension

While Arteta undoubtedly wants more players, securing the Gabon striker’s future could be more important than any arrival this summer.

The Mail believe Aubameyang is close to agreeing a three-year, £250,000 per week extension.

The move follows early work to sign Willian on a free after his deal expired at Chelsea.

Gunners strike Gabriel deal

Arsenal have struck a deal to sign Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes, according to the Mail.

The fee is believed to be £22m for the Brazilian defender, who has impressed while helping Lille to secure a top-four finish.

The 22-year-old is also on the radar of Napoli and came close to joining Everton earlier in the year, so it is not a formality that the player ends up at the Emirates.

Arsenal sign Lewis on free transfer

Arsenal have signed 20-year-old Norwegian forward George Lewis on a free transfer.

Lewis was born in Rwanda and moved to Norway as a child, where he impressed with lower-tier clubs Tromso IL, Tromsdalen and Fram Larvik.

Lewis has signed a professional contract but will begin life in Steve Bould’s Under-23 squad.

Lacazette emerges as Juve option

Alexandre Lacazette could be heading for the exit at Arsenal, with Juventus keen on the French striker.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who believe the Old Lady are looking for a cheaper option in attack, which could make Lacazette a more appealing option.

The 29-year-old cost £47.7m in 2017, but the Gunners could move on this summer with two years remaining on his deal.
