Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been handed the Thierry Henry’s legendary No 14 shirt following his club-record £56m move to Arsenal.

Aubemeyang’s move was confirmed on transfer deadline day as Olivier Giroud went to Chelsea to allow Michy Batshuayi to replace the Gabon international at Borussia Dortmund.

And he was given the No 14 shirt vacated by Theo Walcott after his transfer to Everton earlier this month, something he was excited about given his own comments about emulating Henry in north London.

“I think the club have such a big history and they have the great players, like Thierry Henry, so it’s an example for us strikers,” Aubameyang told Arsenal’s official website.

“He [Henry] was fast and he scored a lot of goals, it’s really an example [for me].”

Aubameyang described his playing style as “like Henry a little bit” but added that he will “have to work a lot to be like him”.
