From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. With fans earlier today releasing a coruscating indictment of their club’s current mishandling, Arsenal furtively attempt to make an impact in this summer’s transfer market, hoping to appease any criticisms of them both on and off the pitch.

With 18-year-old Gabriel Martinelli being the club’s only signing with less than a month of the transfer window remaining, supporters are becoming restless with the lack of activity so desperately needed to reinvigorate a plateauing and floundering squad.

Arsenal however, do seem to be close to their first major signing of the summer with rumours lingering.

Today, Arsenal have seen their second bid of £25million rejected by Celtic for young Scottish left back Kieran Tierney according to the BBC, but a deal is still expected to be completed before the deadline on August 9th.

Former Celtic midfield Stiylian Petrov has said that he wants to see the deal ‘’resolved as soon as possible.’’

With club captain Laurent Koscielny refusing to travel with the rest of the squad for the pre-season tour of the United States this week, and Hector Bellerin’s long standing injury set to rule him out of the first few weeks of the season, defensive recruitment surely remains a priority.

Brazilian journalist Sergio Araujo is reporting that Arsenal have today sent medical staff to Brazil in order to finalise a deal for Gremio forward Everton Soares.

There has been speculation surrounding Everton over the last couple of days after the player confirmed that he had had an offer from a club to leave.

“Right now I have an offer on the plate, but I can’t say the name of the club in question,” he said. “Just as I cannot promise that I will be here again on Thursday to play against Bahia. We’ll see.”

A forward thinking left winger, Everton was his club’s top scorer last season scoring 10 goals in 28 appearances alongside being named man of the match in Brazil’s Copa America final match in which they won 3-1.

However, Arsenal may face completion from other clubs such as Atletico Madrid who are said to be prepared to pay £30.5million for the Brazilian.

Everton Soares isn’t the only attacking option manager Unai Emery is considering with Wilfried Zaha a public target, while Lille’s Nicolas Pepe continues to attract attention from across the Premier League, including Arsenal.

Pepe’s agent Samir Khiat has said: “He is wanted by a considerable number of clubs. For him the most important thing is to be wanted and to go to a good club in which he will play and continue to progress.”
