The 20-year-old Brazilian, who has scored 7 goals in 19 Ligue 1 appearances this season, was linked to both north London sides though eventually stayed put in France.
Talk of a move cooled after both of the sides made expensive new signings on deadline day. Arsenal recruited Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, while Spurs signed Malcom’s compatriot, Lucas Moura, from Paris Saint-Germain.
Bordeaux’s manager, Gus Poyet, had insisted that Malcom would not be allowed to leave in January, while club president Stephane Martin also said there would be no deal before the summer.
But Malcom has now revealed that it is his “dream” to move to transfer to a bigger club, paving the way for a move away in the summer.
“It's my dream to progress in my career,” he told Telefoot.
“I spoke to the president, he told me that he knew it was my dream, but that he needed me.
“I told him he could count on me until the end of the season, I will do everything to help Bordeaux finish in the top six in Ligue 1.”
