Arsenal confirmed the sale of Ivory Coast forward Gervinho to Roma, for a fee reported to be in the region of £7m.

The 26-year-old found first-team games hard to come by last season and was limited to mostly substitute appearances. Manager Arsène Wenger signed Gervinho from Lille for £10.5m in July 2011 but he was only able to find the back of the net on four occasions in his first campaign at the Emirates Stadium, and added seven last season.

Gervinho has been capped 45 times by the Ivory Coast and represented them at this year's African Cup of Nations.

Roma finished sixth in Serie A last season but have had a busy summer in the transfer market, with Gervinho the 13th addition to Rudi Garcia's squad.
