Atletico Madrid forward Antonie Griezmann could cost Chelsea or Manchester United a British record fee if they want to bring the Frenchman to the Premier League, according to reports.

The 25-year-old scored the crucial away goal, his 31st of a brilliant campaign, as the Spanish visitors shocked Bayern Munich to reach the Champions League final, their second in three seasons.

According to the Daily Mail, the two rival clubs will do battle for Griezmann's signature with his current contract situation up in the air, although that could cost them a significantly bigger fee.

The Rojiblanco had wanted to seal an improved deal until 2020 for the former Real Sociedad forward and increase his minimum release clause from £63million to £79m.

Griezmann again proved he is one of the hottest talents in Europe with superb finish past Manuel Neuer as Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid progressed past Bayern Munich on away goals.

He narrowly beat the offside trap before providing a calm finish in a game that ended 2-1.

"The best team goes through," he told Spanish TV station Antena 3 after the win."They might have been better [tonight]. But we were better in the first leg. And we scored here tonight. The team who played best went through.

"It was a difficult game against a tough opponent. We had to defend and try and score a goal. And we did that."

Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked numerous times to the forward, who has been watched numerous times by scouts of both clubs.
