Adam Lallana has travelled to Liverpool for a medical as the club close in on the £25m transfer of the Southampton midfielder. The Independent understands the deal could be announced as early as today, and he will be unveiled alongside recent signing Emre Can next week.
The 26-year-old, who played in all three matches for England at the World Cup, had been linked with a move to Anfield all summer.
Brendan Rodgers' side saw several offers rejected for the England international since the end of last season, but now appear to have finally struck a deal with the Saints.
Lallana is the latest high-profile name to leave St Mary's, after Rickie Lambert also joined the Reds for £4m, and Luke Shaw signed for Manchester United in a £30m deal today.
Can signed for Liverpool last month after the Reds triggered the £9.75m release clause in his contract at Bayer Leverkusen.
The move ends the midfielder's 14-year association with Southampton, who he joined from Bournemouth in September 2000 aged 12.
