Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher are set for a friendly all-star game at Anfield this afternoon that will feature a number of past Liverpool greats.

The current Liverpool captain seems to have the edge in regards to quality in his first eleven as he will be reuniting with Xabi Alonso, who will play midfield behind Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Gerrard's red-hot bench promises a unique and dreamy front line as Barcelona player Luis Suarez could team up with his La Liga rival and current Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres.

Nothing should be taken away from Carragher's team though as he has Liverpool's Champions League 2005 final starting keeper Pepe Reina.

The Sky Sports pundit will also feature an interesting duo up front with Chelsea legend Didier Drogba and Mario Balotelli, who is always eager to impress.

One of the 2005 heroes Luis Garcia will be sitting on the bench along with another Liverpool veteran Craig Bellamy and Manchester City left-back Gael Clichy.

The starting eleven for both teams are as followed...

Steven Gerrard: Jones, Johnson, A Gerrard, Terry, Riise, S Gerrard, Alonso, Nolan, Babel, Sinclair, Henry.

Subs: Dann, Williams, Suarez, Torres, Adam, Spearing, Warnock, Teixeira.

Jamie Carragher: Reina, Flanagan, Carragher, Kelly, Arbeloa, Lucas, Shelvey, Kewell, Downing, Drogba, Balotelli.

Subs: Gulacsi, Garcia, Noone, Moreno, Clichy, Borini, Bellamy.
