From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Celtic swept St Mirren aside at Parkhead yesterday and brushed away any concerns they will lack flair without the departed Aiden McGeady.
This was a day for new Celtic heroes, not least among them James Forrest, a young homegrown winger in the McGeady mold, who claimed their third of four goals against an outclassed St Mirren.
Joe Ledley put Celtic ahead on six minutes and when Shaun Maloney claimed a second before half-time with a deflected effort, the outcome was never in serious doubt.
Forrest's moment, which came after 68 minutes, will be remembered by him but the pick of the goals was still to come, Ki Sung-yueng's late strike from well outside the area the stand-out goal of the match.
Meanwhile, Rangers manager Walter Smith has urged Kyle Lafferty to demonstrate more discipline after picking up a red card in only the second game of the season.
Both Lafferty and Hibernian's Kevin McBride were dismissed by referee Iain Brines following a melee sparked by Lafferty's challenge on Liam Miller.
The Scottish champions went on to triumph 3-0 thanks to a Kenny Miller hat-trick yesterday despite the dismissal of Lafferty.
Smith said: "I suppose this is the best time to get red and yellow cards when they are all fit but we don't want him to get sent off at any time of the season.
"Kyle has had a couple of things happen to him now and he is going to have to adjust and discipline himself a little better than he has done in the past."
Elsewhere, Inverness Caledonian Thistle had a remarkable away-day win at Dundee triumphing 4-0, while Motherwell were victorious 1-0 at Kilmarnock.
