From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Rangers were the day's only winners in the Scottish Premiership as they strengthened their hold on second place with a 2-0 success against Hearts.

A rare goal from Rob Kiernan set the Gers on their way, the defender heading home James Tavernier's teasing free-kick.

And the impressive Barrie McKay made it two in the 51st minute when he finished right-footed from the corner of the six-yard box.

Third-placed Aberdeen drew 0-0 with St Johnstone, who could have inflicted greater punishment as Steven MacLean and Blair Alston threatened in the second half.

Inverness came from behind to draw 1-1 with Hamilton. Ali Crawford gave Hamilton a 16th-minute lead when his left-wing corner curled in untouched.

Caley Thistle were denied a penalty when Dan Seaborne appeared to handle on the line, but Larnell Cole levelled early in the second half with an emphatic finish off the crossbar.

Dundee drew 0-0 against Ross County, Liam Boyce with a goal disallowed for County before Craig Wighton went close from distance for Dundee. County's Christopher Routis and Dundee's Marcus Haber then missed clear chances.

Ross MacLean, Lionel Ainsworth and Scott McDonald missed glorious opportunities for Motherwell as their game against Kilmarnock also finished goalless.
