From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Martin O'Neill, the Celtic manager, is confident that John Robertson will be alongside him at Parkhead within the next couple of days.

Robertson yesterday left his post as assistant manager at Leicester City by mutual consent and is expected to take up a similar post in Glasgow. O'Neill and the coach Steve Walford left Filbert Street for Celtic during the summer and it now looks certain that Robertson will be joining them. Robertson could even be in the dug-out in time for Sunday's first Old Firm game.

It had been expected that the former Nottingham Forest winger would quit Leicester earlier, but discussions between the club and the Scottish Premier League club had become protracted. However, it appears a solution has been reached and Robertson has been released from his contract after four years with the Midlands club.

"The employment of assistant manager, John Robertson, with the club has been brought to an end today by mutual consent," said a statement issued on behalf of Leicester City.

"The club would like to express thanks to John for his contribution to the success that the club has enjoyed over the last few years."
