From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Former Celtic captain Neil Lennon was treated in hospital early yesterday after being assaulted in Glasgow. Lennon, now a coach at the club, received treatment for minor injuries following an incident in the city's west end after Sunday's Old Firm match.

Police were called to Ashton Lane, well known for trendy pubs and restaurants, at around 12.25am. The former midfielder from Northern Ireland was taken to hospital and later released. He has not filed a complaint with Strathclyde Police, who said inquiries into the incident were continuing.

A force spokeswoman said: "Police were called at 12.25am to a report of a 37-year-old man assaulted in Ashton Lane. The injured man was taken to hospital then released after treatment for minor injuries. He did not wish to make a complaint."
