From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Edinburgh side had led for most of the match after the striker Thomas McManus sent them off to a dream start after only two minutes with a fine drive from the edge of the box. The home side's lead seemed secure until McIntyre headed home from close range but the Hibees held on for their first point in six league games.
However, it had started so well for the Edinburgh men. Their manager, Bobby Williamson, reshuffled his pack following the midweek defeat against Dunfermline and his side got off to a flyer with the early goal. Mixu Paatelainen hit a ball down to McManus on the edge of the United box and the Scotland Under-21 international slammed home a right-footed drive. The visitors drew level when Jim Paterson outpaced the Hibs defender Mathias Doumbe and crossed to the back post, where McIntyre headed in from the line.
Dunfermline's poor run of form continued after they were held to a goalless draw at home to Partick Thistle. Neither side could claim they deserved to win a match that started poorly and got progressively worse.
