Hendry went on record last week as saying he will quit the club as soon as he can, and those comments have clearly angered Murray, who has vented his frustration at the player in yesterday's Rangers News.
He said: "I read Colin's comments saying he doesn't know whether he will ever turn out for Rangers again. I certainly wish he was in a position to play for Rangers. I mean he's not even been putting himself forward for a first-team place.
"Colin seems fit enough to play for Scotland against England but then he comes back to Ibrox and he's needing an operation."
Murray's criticism is likely to rile Hendry, who would have moved to Derby last month but for a clause in his proposed contract which demanded he take a pay-cut in the event of the club being relegated.
However, one boost for Murray will be Giovanni Van Bronckhorst's pledge to remain at Rangers despite reported interest in him from the Serie A pace-setters Roma.
He said: "We are building a good team at Rangers, and hopefully before too long it will be a team that will be successful in Scotland and Europe."
Sebastian Rozental could return to Rangers from his extended loan spell at his former club Universidad Catolica as early as next month.

Meanwhile, Rangers' out-of-favour midfielder Derek McInnes is poised to complete his £300,000 switch to the French club Toulouse subject to agreeing personal terms. He said: "I'm flying out and barring any last-minute hitches I should put pen to paper when I go over there. When I went last month I was very impressed by the set-up."
