The Swedish striker, who arrived from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer earlier this month, hit the ball into the ground with enough bounce to beat goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.
Ibrahimovic’s first in a United shirt came in his home country, with the club’s third pre-season friendly of the summer held at Gothenburg’s Ullevi Stadium.
United supporters had been eagerly anticipating Ibrahimovic’s first appearance and greeted his quickfire strike with great excitement.
Ibrahimovic was the second player to arrive following Jose Mourinho's appointment as United's new manager in May.
Eric Bailly, the central defender from Villarreal, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the attacking midfielder from Borussia Dortmund, have also arrived at Old Trafford this summer.
Mourinho intends to make one more 'fundamental' signing in central midfield.
Paul Pogba, the Juventus midfielder, is widely expected to make his long-anticipated return to the club in the coming days.
