Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Wigan have confirmed the signing of Chelsea forward Scott Sinclair on a season-long loan.
The 20-year-old remains a highly-rated prospect as he joins his sixth different club on loan from Chelsea, and gets his first crack at regular Barclays Premier League football.
Sinclair, capped at every level up to under-20s with England, is Wigan's fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Jordi Gomez, Hendry Thomas, Jason Scotland and James McCarthy.
Manager Roberto Martinez told the club's website, www.wiganlatics.co.uk: "Scott is a fantastic talent who can operate either up front or out wide and I'm delighted to have him join us.
"He'll certainly bring a lot of competitiveness to the team, and hopefully we can help him to continue progressing as a player."
Sinclair spent the second half of last season on loan with Birmingham and featured in the side that won promotion to the Barclays Premier League. He has found opportunities at Stamford Bridge limited and has previously had spells with Plymouth, QPR, Charlton and Crystal Palace.
