Raheem Sterling scored a hat-trick as Manchester City began their Premier League title defence with a 5-0 win against West Ham.

The game also saw the very first decision overturned by VAR in the Premier League, Sterling saw a goal ruled out for offside and Sergio Aguero was given a chance to retake a saved penalty after Lukas Fabianski moved in front of his line before saving.

Sterling doubled City’s lead after the break following Gabriel Jesus’ opening goal and from then it became a case of how many Pep Guardiola’s side would score.

A well-timed run from deep was found by Mahrez for his second, and the third, after Aguero’s penalty, came in similar fashion.
