Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Ahead of the Premier League meeting between West Ham and Chelsea this weekend, we caught up with a couple of fans for their take on the match...
West Ham fan - Joe Difford
West Ham go into Saturday’s home tie with Chelsea on a six game unbeaten run, knowing that every big team they’ve faced have been brushed aside.
Chelsea on the other hand, scraped past Aston Villa after winning just one Premier League game in five, putting Jose Mourinho’s future in doubt.
Angelo Ogbonna, Alex Song and Enner Valencia should all be back which is a massive boost for us and if fit the will greatly strengthen the squad.
Pedro could return after a minor injury and Eden Hazard may see Premier League action after being benched for their game against Villa, so we will have to keep them both quiet if we want to get the result on Saturday.
I think Saturday’s game will be a close encounter, and we will find out if West Ham actually enjoy playing away or whether it’s just big teams that make them up their game.
My guess is a narrow West Ham win, provided they approach the game in the same way they did against Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City. Here's to a 1-0 victory!
Chelsea fan - Kavan Flavius
Chelsea are still finding their way this season, but after a vital win vs Aston Villa last weekend – and a solid performance which saw us claim a point against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday – we could be in a good place pretty soon.
We now need to string a few wins together to rebuild confidence and an away win against West Ham on Saturday would be a huge step. The Hammers currently sit in fourth place on the table, having shown great form this season. They will certainly prove tough opposition and a near perfect performance is needed from the squad if we are to overcome West Ham. With Diego Costa back and firing; instrumental in last weekend’s victory, he could well make the difference against West Ham. I'm predicting a 1-0 win for Chelsea.
