Adalberto Penaranda could finally makes his Watford debut after receiving his work permit nearly three years after he signed for the club.

The 21-year-old Venezuela international has penned a new deal that ties him to the club until 2023 and, after processing the required paperwork, he will be available for competitive action.

Penaranda, who started his career in his home country with Deportivo La Guaira, joined Watford in February 2016 and has since spent time on loan with Granada, Udinese and Malaga.

With Granada, Penaranda broke Lionel Messi's record as the youngest foreign player to score a brace in LaLiga.

Penaranda can play out wide or through the middle, and will offer another option to Hornets boss Javi Gracia.

The forward has made 13 senior international appearances and helped Venezuela reach the 2017 Under-20 World Cup final, which they lost to England.
