The Gunners were improved on the ball after the break but missed chances through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
Here are the player ratings from the game on Sunday.
Tottenham
Hugo Lloris - 7. Good handling when called upon. Two fine saves in the second half.
Serge Aurier - 7. Defended diligently, useful on counters at times.
Toby Alderweireld - 8. A surprise return after injury saw the Belgian pick up where he had left off, with an authoritative showing at the back.
Eric Dier - 7. Continues to improve and show great consistency with his work in the defensive penalty area.
Sergio Reguilon - 6. Quiet going forward by his usual standards but kept Willian extremely quiet.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg - 8. Arsenal had nobody to match him for a combination of guile, work rate, positioning and ability to win the ball.
Moussa Sissoko - 7. Some excellent work in the defensive half, making it easy for the defence to relieve pressure.
Giovani Lo Celso - 6. Played a big role in the second goal. Not always too much time on the ball and gave away a few fouls.
Steven Bergwijn - 7. Massive work rate as ever. A good outlet when needed but mostly an extra full-back or deep midfielder.
Son Heung-min - 8. What a goal! Super work from Son, good set-piece deliveries and all-round counter-attacking threat.
Harry Kane - 8. Ultimately the big difference between the sides - created the first, scored the second, won free-kicks, defended aerials and gave his team an out-ball between the lines.
Arsenal
Bernd Leno - 6. No chance on the goals. Not a huge amount to do otherwise.
Hector Bellerin - 5. Poor crosses, couldn’t keep pace on the break, no real variance to his game and the ignominy of a foul throw.
Rob Holding - 5. Fine on the ball but couldn’t close out the gaps in the Arsenal right channel at key moments.
Gabriel Magalhaes - 6. Did well in direct duels but again couldn’t hold the line solid when it mattered most.
Kieran Tierney - 8. Easily Arsenal’s best player. Defended diligently, gave his team width, sent some dangerous crosses over and actually kept working hard throughout, unlike some of his team-mates.
Thomas Partey - 6. Looked fantastic on the ball at times, taking on players and winning back the ball, but went off injured at a hugely inopportune moment.
Granit Xhaka - 4. Gave away a poor foul about five minutes in and his game didn’t get much better from there. Fine on simple passes, irrelevant in the final third, easily bypassed defensively. Standard yellow card, too.
Willian - 5. Yet again a very quiet evening where Willian offered largely nothing.
Bukayo Saka - 6. Hard work and clever running at times, but his final pass was missing more often than not, other than a couple of crosses.
Alexandre Lacazette - 6. Played off the striker again. It doesn’t help him when Arsenal face a deep block and he’s the one asked to find the passes. Attacked the box well from the second line though and arguably should have scored at least once.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 5. Much more central again this time but missed one big headed chance.
