Gareth Bale is a doubt for Tottenham's match against Manchester United at White Hart Lane on Sunday after a hamstring injury prevented him from playing for Wales against Costa Rica this week.

Bale was assessed by the club's medical staff at their training ground in Essex yesterday and he will continue to receive treatment today and tomorrow. Club sources were keen to stress that the damage is not serious and that Bale is not expected to be sidelined for a significant amount of time.

Full-back Kyle Walker has also been receiving treatment this week, on an ankle problem, while playmaker Rafael van der Vaart was unable to play for the Netherlands against England at Wembley because of a similar injury.
