Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League suffered a serious blow on Sunday as they twice blew a lead to lose at home to Wolves.

Spurs started well and raced into an early lead when Steven Bergwijn stabbed home from inside the six-yard box, after Dele Alli’s shot was parried by Rui Patrício.

But their lead did not last long. Some terrible defending allowed Matt Doherty to get ahead of Japhet Tanganga to score an equaliser.

Serge Aurier put Spurs back in front with a fine curling finish from just inside the box, only for Wolves to turn the game around in the second-half.

First Diogo Jota capitalised on an Eric Dier error to get Wolves back on level terms. And then the 23-year-old forward turned provider, racing from one end of the field down the other to supply Raúl Jiménez, who finished confidently beyond Paulo Gazzaniga. Here are our player ratings.
