Harry Kane responds to disputed goal controversy after sealing Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Watford

Harry Kane insisted he feels “good and sharp” after scoring in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Watford, to end a poor run of form and criticism from fans and players alike for claiming a goal against Stoke at the start of the month.

It has been a difficult few weeks for the England international. He has struggled for form and has been forced to watch Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah extend his lead in the race for the Golden Boot to five goals.

He also came in for a lot of criticism for disputing the Premier League's decision to award Tottenham's second goal to Christian Eriksen in the team's 2-1 win away at Stoke City.

Kane was eventually awarded the goal but was ridiculed by a number of his peers.

However he scored his 27^th goal of the season in the win over Watford and afterwards insisted he is in a good frame of mind.

“I feel good,” he said. “I would like to have played better over the last few games but so would the team. I feel good and sharp, I could have a got a couple more today but I’m, good and want to finish strong.

“I try and improve every year so I want to beat 29 goals. Last year was an unbelievable end but we will see what happens. Hopefully I can do the same but I want to get to that 30 mark.”

Kane also said Spurs are now desperate to finish above Liverpool in third after strengthening their grip on a Champions League place.

“Chelsea were creeping up but now we can look forward,” he added. “We have a game on hand on Liverpool and if we can win that we jump ahead of them as well.

“Our run of form hasn’t been the best and when that happens you want to play straight away to make that right. But we have had to wait. We started slow but we won the game. We have three games left and we want to win them all and jump up to third.”
