From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Dele Alli. The England international is in the process of restoring his fitness but made an instant impact when he came on from off the bench in Tottenham’s last game against Crystal Palace.
Spurs are not yet firing on all cylinders but Alli could provide the ignition required to kick Mauricio Pochettino’s side into life.
Best stat…
Tottenham are winless in their last seven league games against Liverpool, losing five of those matches and conceding a total of 19 goals.
Player to watch…
It’s a toss-up between Sadio Mane and Daniel Sturridge. The former has hit the ground running at Liverpool and showcased his quality against Southampton. It’ll be interesting to see how Pochettino sets about muffling the player.
As for Sturridge, the forward has recently vented his frustration about being played out wide. This dissatisfaction could unbalance the whole team if he spends too much time drifting inwards in search of the ball. Jurgen Klopp has sought to dismiss claims that there’s an issue between himself and the player, but will Sturridge be out to prove a point?
