Spurs have started badly at their temporary home, with one point from two games so far, following on from last season’s struggles there in Europe.
Speaking after Sunday’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Burnley, Spurs captain Lloris said that they needed to do more, physically and mentally, to win there. Spurs were unbeaten in the league at White Hart Lane last season, winning their last 17 consecutive games, and Lloris knows how unlikely it is they will repeat that run this season.
“Wembley is a different place, it demands more effort in your mind, in your body,” Lloris said on Sunday evening. “Then we need to try and find the right feeling, find the right confidence, so step-by-step it will arrive.
"We need to make sure that kind of scenario will not happen again. We need to do better, we need to kill the game.”
Lloris contrasted Spurs’ current struggles with last season when they could have won at White Hart Lane “with their eyes closed”.
“It could have happened at White Hart Lane,” he said, “from the beginning, your two home games you didn’t win, you start to lose a bit of confidence. You can feel it in the crowd, you can feel the opponent building confidence, and it’s not easy, especially after a season like last one. we were unbeaten, we could’ve played eyes closed, we were fantastic, but the most important is to keep our belief, keep working hard, and it will happen.”
