Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Images of a new Under Armour shirt appeared on an Australian forum overnight, with the poster of the picture claiming to have seen the shirt on sale in an Australian shop.
They were then posted on Twitter by a Spurs supporter.
It is so far unclear which shop the shirt is on sale, although the high price and markings have added an air of authenticity.
The white shirt, which features a blue breast plate and gold trim, is on sale for AUS$119.99, approximately £65.
The label reads 'Tottenham M H JSY 16 17' - which is likely to mean the size (m), the home kit (h), jersey (jsy) and next season (16-17).
Spurs are said to be in negotiation with American sportswear giant Nike over a new kit deal to begin in the 2017-18 season.
Under Armour currently pay £10million annually to supply Tottenham's kits, but the club are said to be trying to agree £30m-a-year with Nike.
