From the unluckiest player to the worst attempt at a head-butt - we remember some of the stranger moments from the season
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. From the very first weekend of the season when Ashley Young fell foul of a mischievous bird, the 2014/15 Premier League promised to be a strange one, and come the final weekend of the season it certainly hasn't disappointed.
While Chelsea all-too predictably marched to the title, elsewhere the unexpected and bizarre were triumphing. Memorable moments from past seasons include Alan Pardew's touchline head-butt, Kieran Gibbs' red card for Alex Oxlade Chamberlain's hand ball and Eric Cantona's shocking drop-kick on a fan.
So here, we dish out some alternative awards from 2014/15, recognising the weirdest moments from the last nine months that have stunned, thrilled and entertained us in equal measure.
In among this year's gongs are The Alan Pardew award for bonkers behaviour, the delusional boaster award and our winner of the most topical goal celebration.
But which one was your favourite? Vote for your moment of the year in the poll below:
