From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

It’s a big game for…

Matt Miazga: Chelsea’s 20-year-old American centre-half made a solid debut against Villa last week, helping his side to a clean-sheet in a comprehensive 4-0 hammering of the league’s bottom side.

Whilst Miazga looked more than capable last week, a trip to a Swansea side who have picked up ten points from their last five games to move clear of relegation trouble will be a much better litmus test of the youngsters talents, as he comes up against Gomis and the returning Ayew.

Best stat…

0: Swansea have never beaten Chelsea in the Premier League.

Remember when…

On the opening day of the season Jose Mourinho’s was left fuming at the Chelsea team doctor, Eva Carneiro who had rushed onto the pitch to treat Eden Hazard. The game ended 2-2 and the incident acted as a catalyst for the Portuguese manager’s demise at Stamford Bridge.

Player to watch…

Gylfi Sigurdsson: Swansea’s Icelandic midfielder has been exceptional since the arrival of Francesco Guidolin in January. Sigurdsson has scored in six of the Italian’s ten games in charge and has been a huge factor in helping the Swans move ten points clear of the relegation zone.

If Swansea to get a victory this weekend and hit the magic 40-point mark to all but guarantee their Premier League status for another season, Sigurdsson will have to be at his best against a Chelsea side who have improved greatly under Guus Hiddink.

Past three-meetings…

Chelsea 2 (Oscar, Fernandez OG) Swansea 2 (Ayew, Gomis), Premier League, August 2015.

Swansea 0 Chelsea 5 (Oscar 2, Costa 2, Schurrle), Premier League, January 2015.

Chelsea 4 (Costa 3, Remy) Swansea 2 (Terry OG, Shelvey), Premier League, September 2014.
