Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has conceded that his side 'could not cope' with Swansea City as they fell to defeat at the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans recovered from Juan Mata's opener to overturn the deficit through Andre Ayew and Bafetimbi Gomis efforts to secure their third consecutive win over van Gaal's men.

The Dutchman said: "The opponent changed their shape and we could not cope, that is not good.

"We lost in that five minutes and it is a pity because we controlled the game. You have to be compact, we were probably too dominant to have the sense to do that.

"We could have scored much more goals, that is not the problem. You need a little bit of luck."

United have fallen to 5th in the Premier League as a result of the defeat.
