When is it?

Kick-off is at 1.30pm on Sunday 9 April, at the Stadium of Light.

Where can I watch it?

The game will be shown on Sky Sports 1 with coverage starting from 12.30pm. Or you can follow all the action on The Independent’s live blog above.

It’s a big game for…

Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The big Swede missed three games through suspension but was back to save United with a late goal against Everton to salvage a draw and his side’s unbeaten run. He looks like the only player capable of scoring and therefore so much relies on how he plays on Sunday.

Remember when…

Adnan Januzaj burst onto the scene with two goals at the Stadium of Light when Moyes gave him his United debut.

Last three meetings…

Manchester United 3 Sunderland 1, Premier League, December 2016

Anichebe is denied from close range by Romero. The ball goes into the feet of the striker, he turns and attempts to poke the ball past the keeper, but his attempt is parried away. That is Sunderland's best chance, so far.

RED CARD

Larsson see's red after crashing into a challenge with Herrera, with his studs raised. It's a dangerous tackle and he's paid the ultimate price.

HALF TIME

SUNDERLAND 0 - 1 MANCHESTER UNITED

Sunderland enter the interval chasing a one goal deficit and with only ten men for the remainder, following a red card for Larsson. Ibrahimovic opened the scoring with a moment of magic from the edge of the area to give the visitors an advantage. However, this second half will be a tough one following the departure of the 31-year-old.

It's all to play for.

GOAL

SUNDERLAND 0 - 2 MANCHESTER UNITED

Mkhitaryan doubles United's tally after picking up the ball inside of the area, skipping past two Sunderland players and slotting it into the far corner. Top strike, helped by some dismal defending.

Pickford crashes into Ibrahimovic following a clearance. There's no intent there from either player, but Ibrahimovic appears to have come out a little worse from the incident.

Cattermole weaves his way through a sea of United shirts, before sending the ball through to Defoe. The attempted pass is intercepted and the attack comes to an early end. Encouraging stuff from the skipper, though.
