Arsene Wenger has made two changes to his Arsenal side that drew 0-0 with Middlesbrough last weekend as he prepares to take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Kieran Gibbs comes in for Nacho Monreal, who is believed to not in the squad due to injury, while mid-week goalscorer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also starts, in place of the injured Theo Walcott.

There is positive news on the bench too as Aaron Ramsey is named among the substitutes – his first appearance in the squad since the opening day defeat to Liverpool where he was taken off with a hamstring injury.

Olivier Giroud and Carl Jenkinson are also in the squad, with Lucas Perez ruled out through injury.

David Moyes has made just the one change from the side that lost in the last minute to West Ham last weekend, with right-back Javier Manquillo dropping out of the starting XI and is replaced with Billy Jones.

Adnan Januzaj is also named among the substitutes after shaking off the injury which kept him out of the Black Cats’ last game.

Line ups:

Sunderland: Pickford, Jones, O’Shea, Kone, Van Aanholt, Rodwell, Pienaar, N’Dong, Khazri,

Watmore, Defoe.

Substitutes: Mika, Djilobodji, Love, Anichebe, Manquillo, Januzaj, Gooch.

Arsenal: Cech, Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Gibbs, Elneny, Coquelin, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ozil, Iwobi, Sanchez.
