Liverpool avenged their 6-1 mauling on the final day of last season with a 1-0 victory over Stoke on the first day of the new campaign.

Brendan Rodgers handed four players their full Liverpool debuts for the Premier League meeting at the Britannia Stadium. Christian Benteke, Nathanial Clyne, Joe Gomez and James Milner were all in the side.
