There is uncertainty surrounding the future of the Manchester City boss with his side off the pace in the Premier League. Failure to rein in Manchester United will see City dethroned as Premier League champions, and with the FA Cup their only other chance of silverware this season, it's thought he could pay the price for a trophyless season with his job.
That uncertainty increased when defender Kolo Toure suggested City must win some silverware to safeguard the manager's position.
"It is very important for the players to win [a trophy], because that will help the manager to be here for sure," Toure said. “We don’t want to end a season without winning something.
“I don’t know [if there will be changes]. That’s up to the board and the manager, but as player, we are just here to win.
“It is hard for City now. We have delivered and we need to maintain that by winning trophies.”
Jose Mourinho, among other names, has been linked with replacing Mancini at the Etihad Stadium.
Should he leave, the Italian will likely receive a wealth of offers. It was revealed earlier this season that the manager who recently claimed "over the last 15 months, I am the best manager in England" turned down a multi-million pound offer from Monaco.
It would now seem Roma are interested in acquiring Mancini's services should he leave Manchester City.
The Italian watched Roma play Sampdoria last week and with the Eternal City team rudderless after the sacking of Zdenek Zeman earlier this month, Mancini has emerged as the front runner for the job according to The Telegraph.
Veteran coach Aurelio Andreazzoli has been installed at the Olympic Stadium until the end of the season, allowing Roma to wait until the current campaign is over before making a move for a new manager.
It is thought that Mancini's ties with Roma's city rivals Lazio, who he played for and managed, will not influence a move for him.
