David Moyes' reputation has taken a battering this season as his time at Manchester United has gone from bad to worse.

Formerly the Everton manager who many said was hugely underrated for the work he had done with limited funds, now Moyes finds himself struggling at United and labelled by some as being out of his depth.

Now Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, once handed his debut by Moyes in 2011, has claimed his replacement at the club, Roberto Martinez, is the superior tactician.

Asked to compare the two men, Barkley said: "He’s similar to David Moyes as they both like to take over the training session and be the main man.

"But Martinez is more tactical. We do a lot more tactical work which is good for me because I’m young and still learning.

"Roberto Martinez has come in and given everyone confidence. He’s a positive man and doesn’t say anything negative.

"I’m an Evertonian so I want the club to be up at the top end of the table and it’s great to be a part of it."

Barkley has enjoyed a good season with Everton, establishing himself as a first team regular and earning three England caps in the process.
