Remi Garde has left Aston Villa by mutual consent after 147 days of disappointment and defeat at Villa Park.

The 49-year-old leaves with the lowest win percentage of any permanent manager in the club’s history – a mere 10 per cent.

More specifically, the Villans won just two of 20 league games during Garde’s tenure, drawing six and losing the remaining 12.

It started relatively well, with the former Arsenal player’s arrival inspiring his embattled side to hold Manchester City to a goalless draw in November.

A heavy defeat at Everton followed, however, and barring brief moments of resistance against the likes of Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Norwich City, it was a tale of doom and gloom from there on.

All told, the West Midlands club sit 12 points adrift of safety with seven games remaining. It is widely expected that they will be playing Championship football next season.

Garde, however, will not be at the helm. No matter which way you read the statistics, they are an indictment of his tenure at Villa Park, but is he the worst Premier League manager of all-time?

Actually, no, though he’s not far off. When judging all permanent managers by points-per-game totals in 10 top-flight games or more, Garde sneaks into the top 10, but there are nine other bosses who have failed in a more spectacular fashion.

They're all here in the gallery below...

Surprised that Garde doesn't top the list? Who were the most calamitous managers at your club? Let us know in the comments.
