Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Colombian, who has only scored one goal for the Blues and last played in October, has been linked with a big-money move to China, where the transfer window stays open until 26 February.
New loan signing Alexandre Pato has been included in the 25-man squad, as has Matt Miazga, who arrived from New York Red Bulls last week.
The decision, which was confirmed by the club on Wednesday night, means Falcao will not be able to play in the last-16 clash with Paris Saint-Germain on 16 February and 9 March.
Pato, who was left out of the squad to face Watford, has not played a game since November and was not considered sharp enough for inclusion at Vicarage Road.
Falcao had been linked with a return to Monaco but the Ligue 1 club do not want to pay his mammoth wages, concerned over his fitness levels.
