Chelsea will be this year's Christmas No 1 so long as they do not lose by two goals or more at Stoke City tonight, but does history suggest that means they will go on to win the Premier League?
The Blues could be top of the Premier League tree for only the third time - and for Chelsea, this means they will go on to win the title.
In each of the three seasons that Chelsea have previously been top of the Premier League on Christmas Day, they have gone on to win the trophy.

In addition, in four out of the past five seasons, the team who was top of the Premier League on Christmas Day went on to win the Premier League. However, last year's Xmas No 1, Liverpool, led Arsenal by goal difference at this stage, but would eventually finish the season in second place.
