From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. It was another blockbuster weekend of Premier League action as leaders Chelsea faltered against Sunderland while Manchester City leap-frogged Southampton into second place after an impressive victory against Ronald Koeman's men.
City were ruthless, showing the Saints just how strong their team is by cruising to a 3-0 lead despite playing with ten men. That helps when you have the likes of Yaya Toure, Gael Clichy and Vincent Kompany: all three of those players make it onto either Jack de Menezes or Tom Sheen's teams of the weekend, while Sergio Aguero makes onto both star lists.
Elsewhere, Sunderland's defensive display against Chelsea merits the inclusion of one of their players on both starting elevens while players from Crystal Palace and QPR make the cut, with both those teams registering important results over the weekend as the Premier League prepares for the busy winter period.
Watch the video below to see Tom Sheen and Jack de Menezes discuss the XI players that performed the best this weekend.
