From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

It was another blockbuster weekend of Premier League action as Chelsea's unbeaten run finally came to an end at the hands of Newcastle, while West Ham climbed into third place after an Andy Carroll brace helped them to victory against Swansea.

Newcastle overcame a poor Chelsea showing to inflict the first defeat on the Blues in the league this season, with standout performances from Papiss Cisse and 25-year-old Jack Colback.

West Ham continued their rise up the table with a third win in three. Sam Allardyce will be particularly pleased with Andy Carroll's return to the score sheet with two powerful headers and an assist in the 3-1 victory over Swansea City. With the Arsenal defence imploding at Stoke on Saturday, Arsene Wenger will be wishing he still had Carl Jenkinson in his team: the defended is on loan at West Ham and set up the Hammers' first goal on Sunday.
